UZ Vice Chancellor Prof Levi Nyagura loses cool over Grace Mugabe's PhD

UNIVERSITY of Zimbabwe (UZ) Vice-chancellor Professor Levi Nyagura was outraged and exploded yesterday when asked to explain how President Robert Mugabe's wife, Grace, got her controversial PhD as the academic scandal engulfing the first lady refuses to go away.

"Are you a university? So why do you want to know the details of this particular student's performance? How many students graduated with PhDs?" Nyagura erupted when asked to explain the contentious issue.

After being told there were 13 students who graduated with PhDs, including Grace, he asked: "So why would you want to know results of this particular student only?"

Further told that how Grace got her doctorate was not only interesting to the public but also an important issue of public interest, Nyagura — who chaired the UZ's 15-member academic member committee that awarded Grace the doctorate — became even more agitated, saying: "Why would the public want to know all this? Do they know how universities are run? The public is ignorant of how universities are run and this issue has nothing to do with them anyway."

After the outburst, he fired his parting shot: "I am not going to respond to any of your questions, thank you!"

For the past three weeks authorities at the UZ have avoided answering questions regarding Grace's doctorate degree and when Nyagura was finally available yesterday he refused to shed any light, only radiating more heat around the issue.

The media has failed so far to speak to other UZ leaders and officials, including spokesperson Dennis Rwafa, registrar Sergeant Chevo, officers in charge of student records and acting Dean of the Faculty of Social Studies Tichaendepi Masaya.

Efforts to speak to University Council chairperson Washington Mbizvo and UZ senate officials have also failed.

New Grand coalition unveiled, includes other opposition parties except Tsvangirai

PROPONENTS of a grand coalition which excludes MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai have come up with a code which, if approved, will govern how the coalition will work.

Sources close to the developments however revealed the leaders of the parties have not signed the agreement as they are still consulting their members.

Among other things, the parties agreed to keep their different identities but use the coalition's symbol when sponsoring a candidate or when doing activities associated with the coalition.

Known as the Coalition of Democrats Agreement (Code) the parties, MDC-T Renewal, MDC, Zapu and Mavambo/Dawn/Kusile agreed to "establish a united, democratic, socially just and green Zimbabwe in which all are free, equal, and prosperous and enjoy happy and fulfilling lives."

Reads the agreement: "The platform we have created shall be known as the Coalition of Democrats (Code). The Coalition of Democrats shall be a body corporate capable of suing and being sued and acquiring and disposing of property in its own right."

"For the purposes of participating in elections and sponsoring candidates or doing any other programmes, Code shall have its own distinct symbols and logos separate from those of the parties or organisation that are its members. Membership of Code shall be open to political parties and organisations which subscribe to the coalition’s practice, values, principles and objectives."

The parties agreed to set up a governing council which would have the right and obligation of accepting and refusing the membership application of any political party, organisation, body or person who is not a founder member.

The governing council will comprise all the presidents or principals of the political parties and two other senior leaders, nominated by each political party or organisation that is a member to Code.

The governing council will be responsible for the day-to-day affairs of Code and is charged with designing and implementing all the programmes of the coalition, designing and implementing any electoral and campaign strategy.

It has also been charged with coming up with a fair and just framework for candidate selection and candidate nomination in the fulfillment of the principle of fielding one candidate for each elective office in every election.

It will also elect and appoint the rotating chairmanship and steering committees, as well as produce a schedule of the order of the respective chairmanships, among other things.

The chairperson of Code shall be held on a rotational basis and the governing council is expected to agree and define the order in which the chairpersonship will rotate on a two-month cycle amongst all the political parties who are members of the coalition.

"The leader or principal of each political party whose turn it is to occupy the chairpersonship shall become the automatic chairperson of Code during the designated two-month period," reads the agreement.

"If the chairperson is absent or unable to carry out his or her duties, then the political party, in respect of which the chairperson is the president or principal, shall nominate another person to act for and on behalf of the chairperson."

Code will also have steering committees, namely finance and administration, organising and advocacy, international relations, media, information and publicity, election, policy research and publications, women, as well as the youths committee — which shall be sub-committees of the governing council.

Chairpersons of the steering committees and the deputies shall rotate, in terms of the list produced and prepared by the governing council and shall hold office for two months.

Each member political party or organisation shall appoint two members to every steering committee.
If two thirds of the members of Code withdraw, the coalition shall stand dissolved.

"In the event of the dissolution of Code, the members shall equitably distribute the assets and liabilities of same," reads the agreement.

"In the event of failure to agree on the dissolution and distribution of assets and liabilities, then the matter shall be referred to arbitration by an arbitrator, appointed by the Commercial Arbitration Centre in Harare."

A LANDLORD from Njube suburb in the city of Bulawayo escaped death by a whisker after his tenant caught him enjoying the fruit of Eden with his wife in the middle of the night last Saturday.

While other town dwellers were enjoying the Intwasa Arts Festival koBulawayo, drinking their sorrows away, few individuals in Njube enjoyed free drama when a landlord at E Square fled his house after he was kicked out by his tenant who found him in his marital bed with his wife.

Neighbours were awakened by noise as the tenant was shouting and throwing bricks at the landlord who ran away. A source who witnessed the saga, learnt that the tenant, who is a taxi driver in Gweru, drove late that night from Gweru to Bulawayo without informing his wife, a vendor who sells fruits and vegetables.

Upon arrival, he parked his car a few metres away from home and used a spare key to open the door. He was shocked to find his beloved wife engaging in sex with the house owner.

He threatened to kill the landlord. The philandering wife, who was a in nightdress which was too revealing and attempted to flee with the landlord, also received a few slaps before she was shoved into a car, with her husband saying he was taking her to her family.

FINALLY REVEALED: How Minister Obert 'Dumbuguru' Mpofu became rich

FINALLY REVEALED: How Minister Obert 'Dumbuguru' Mpofu became rich FORMER Mines and Mining Development Minister Obert Mpofu yesterday revealed for the first time how he acquired some of his much-talked-about wealth, but said the wealth acquisition was aboveboard as it emanated from a golden handshake he got from Tregers.

Minister Mpofu, who is now the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, was the managing director at the Zanu-PF-owned Tregers company in the 1980s.
Dismissing allegations that he asked for a $10 million bribe from Core Mining director Lovemore Kurotwi at the High Court yesterday, Minister Mpofu said he started acquiring properties as far back as 1989 after resigning from Tregers.

Asked how many properties he owned in Bulawayo, he mentioned his first acquisition as the popular Yolk House.
He said he owned another building along Main Street in Bulawayo and several other properties he acquired through "some other companies".

Minister Mpofu said he owned number 25061 Greystone Park in Harare, 644 Borrowdale Brooke and many other properties in the city.
In Victoria Falls, Minister Mpofu said he owned a warehouse and several houses that accommodate his workers.

He told the court that he was one of the biggest cattle ranchers in Zimbabwe, with a herd of at least 4 000.

"I am one of the biggest ranchers with 4 000 head of cattle," he said. "I am also leasing CSC (Cold Storage Commission) farms."

Minister Mpofu refused to give a cumulative value of his properties in Zimbabwe, which has been a subject of speculation for a long time.
He told the court that he was a successful businessman and that the allegations that he solicited for a bribe from Kurotwi were ridiculous and unbelievable as he was in a position to employ him and his co-accused, Dominic Mubaiwa.

Kurotwi and Mubaiwa are being tried for allegedly defrauding the Government of $2 billion in a diamond mining joint venture.
Minister Mpofu, the State's last witness in the trial, told the court he was even offered shares in Tregers before he ventured in a property acquisition spree through Bureau de Change businesses.

"I worked in Government for a few years until 1985 when I joined Tregers as a managing director. Tregers was a big company and I was offered shares in the firm. In 1989, when I left Tregers, I was given a golden handshake, which I used to acquire properties and have never looked back. We acquired several properties in the name of a company called Treble and Kays," he said.

The court heard that the minister became a councillor for Umguza in the late 1980s before being appointed a non-constituency Member of Parliament.
Kurotwi's lawyer Mrs Beatrice Mtetwa told the court that when Canadile Miners was dissolved, some $140 million worth of diamond stocks went missing together with $10 million cash that was in the company's bank account.

When Kurotwi and the other shareholders in Core Mining were kicked out, Mrs Mtetwa said some dividend meant for them to the tune of $3,4 million was withheld at the instruction of the then Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation chairman Mr Godwills Masimirembwa.

Asked to comment on the whereabouts of the missing diamond stocks and the cash, Minister Mpofu said he had nothing to do with that and that he was not aware of how they disappeared.

"That is nonsense. It is not a minister's business and I do not know anything about that," he said.

Justice Chinembiri Bhunu then intervened and reprimanded Minister Mpofu for using unacceptable language in court.

"Minister, you do not use such language in court," he warned him.

The trial continues today with Minister Mpofu being cross-examined by Mubaiwa's lawyer Mr Unity Sakhe.

Man who robbed President Mugabe's company of $1,000 gets 22 years in prison

Man who robbed President Mugabe's company of $1,000 gets 22 years in prison ONE of the two armed robbers who raided an Alpha Omega Dairy warehouse in Bulawayo and got away with $1,035 in cash and mobile phones, was yesterday sentenced to 22 years in jail. Alpha Omega, which sells a range of dairy products, is owned by President MUgabe and his wife, Dr Grace Mugabe.

42-year-old Nicky Richardson (PICTURED) of Sauerstown suburb, was convicted on his own plea of guilty to two counts of armed robbery by regional magistrate Trynos Wutawashe in connection with the Alpha Omega robbery and another he committed nine days earlier.

Prosecutor Robin Mukura said prior to robbing the First Family's warehouse, Richardson connived with Khumbulani Mpofu, who is still at large and descended on city businessman, Tonderai Chingonzo's house.

They masqueraded as detectives investigating a case involving the loss of the businessman's firearm in 2010, before drugging him and stealing money and a firearm which they used to rob Alpha Omega Dairy on September 30.

At the dairy firm in Thorngrove, Richardson and Mpofu pretended to be customers and approached Angeline Hamadziripi, an administrator, shortly after 6PM.

"When they got into Hamadziripi's office, Mpofu produced his firearm and pointed it at Hamadziripi and demanded cash. They took $655 which was in the cashbox before they searched her handbag and stole $380 and cellphones," said Mukura.

They scaled a precast wall surrounding the premises and escaped in a car which was parked outside. Richardson was arrested on October 2 at a building situated along Fort Street and 12th Avenue after he was spotted by Chingonzo, the businessman he had earlier robbed before pouncing on Alpha Omega. In the first robbery, Richardson and Mpofu ordered Chingonzo to surrender his CZ pistol after forcing him and his wife to lie down.

From the couple, they stole a car – a Mazda pick-up – $6,000, R12,000 and a cellphone at gunpoint after drugging them with Chlorpromazine hydrochloride using a syringe. The drug can cause drowsiness.

In passing sentence, Wutawashe said it was clear that the crimes at Alpha Omega as well as against Chingonzo were premeditated.
The magistrate suspended five years from Richardson's 22-year jail term for the two robberies on condition that he does not within that period commit a similar crime, which means he will serve an effective 17 years in jail.

"It is quite evident that Richardson and his accomplice carefully planned before they committed the crime. Although Richardson is a first offender who showed remorse and did not waste the court's time by pleading guilty to the charge, his actions cannot be condoned," ruled Wutawashe.

"It is therefore the duty of the courts to send a clear message to like-minded people and accordingly a harsh prison term is most appropriate given that we have an increase in armed robberies around Bulawayo."

In mitigation, Richardson pleaded for leniency, saying he committed the crime to raise money to pay for his ailing aunt's operation.
"My aunt is suffering from cancer and I wanted to raise money for her operation. I am sorry Your Worship it was not my intention but was desperately in need of money," he said.

Mukura said on September 21 shortly after 1PM, Chingonzo received a phone call from Mpofu who identified himself as Detective Inspector Madzorere, who was purportedly investigating a case in which the businessman had lost his firearm in a robbery incident that occurred in 2010.

Mpofu invited Chingonzo to Ross Camp Police Station and on his arrival, the victim met Mpofu and Richardson who demanded to see his licence for the stolen firearm.

"Chingonzo told Richardson and Mpofu that he had left the document at his house in Morningside," said Mukura.

The court heard that Richardson and Mpofu insisted on inspecting the firearm licence and the three men drove to Morningside.

"When they got home, Richardson and Mpofu requested to see Chingonzo's gun cabinet. When he opened the cabinet, Richardson took out two fully charged magazines of 15 rounds of ammunition and placed them on Chingonzo's bed and took a photo using his mobile phone," said Mukura.

The court heard that the two men then demanded that Chingonzo hand over his CZ pistol.

"Mpofu suddenly cocked the pistol and ordered Chingonzo and his wife to lie down and demanded cash. They went on to tie the victims using a belt and a decoder cable before covering their faces," said Mukura.

They drugged the victims using an injection before they ransacked the house and stole $6,000; R12,000 and a Samsung S4 cellphone.
They took the couple's car keys and drove off before they later abandoned it along Cecil Avenue.

2 married teachers in steamy sex with pupils, one gets pregnant

TWO married teachers at Roman Catholic schools in Mangwe district, Empandeni and Embakwe, are set to appear before a disciplinary committee tomorrow for allegedly having sexual relations with pupils.

One of the teachers, Ntandoyenkosi Ndlovu, is said to have impregnated a Lower Sixth form pupil at Empandeni High during the first term and promised to marry her, while Embakwe Primary's Nhlanhla Nyoni is in trouble for allegedly sleeping with a Grade Six pupil who is related to his wife.

The two teachers are said to have been in love relationships with the schoolgirls at the schools where they teach.

Mangwe District Education Officer, Headman Mpofu confirmed receiving reports in connection with the two cases, but referred further questions to his superiors.

Matabeleland South Provincial Education Director, Tumisang Thabela said she could not immediately comment as she was out of her office.

"I am not within the province as I have travelled on work so I cannot confirm or deny the two incidents. However, disciplinary hearings are part of our procedure for dealing with misbehaving teachers," she said.

A Mangwe district education official who spoke on condition of anonymity claimed that Ndlovu sent the pregnant high school pupil to his rural home in Kezi where she has been for the past two months in a bid to conceal the pregnancy from school officials and his wife who stays in Bulawayo. The girl is, however, now back at her parents' home in Mangwe.

At one time, the girl's parents filed a missing person's report with the police as their daughter had disappeared for two months. The teacher was later exposed after several pupils who were close to the girl wrote anonymous letters to school officials.

After being questioned, Ndlovu admitted to having persuaded the girl to relocate to his rural home, after promising to marry her.

"The two teachers, Ndlovu and Nyoni, are up for disciplinary hearings for having improper associations with pupils. Ndlovu was involved with a Lower Sixth pupil and after impregnating her, he hid her at his rural home without the knowledge of her parents," the source alleged.

On the other hand, Nyoni allegedly took advantage of his wife's absence to sleep with her niece, a Grade Six pupil who was staying with them.

A source at the primary school said Nyoni is reported to have proposed love to his wife's niece who consented to having a sexual relationship with him.

The girl is said to have sent several nude pictures of herself using her phone to Nyoni during the time of their alleged affair.

His involvement with the primary school pupil came to light after the girl ran away from home to another teacher's home one night.

"The Grade Six girl from Embakwe Primary was staying with her aunt at Embakwe High. Nyoni's wife left her niece under her husband's care to visit her rural home and Nyoni took the opportunity to bed the girl.

"One night the girl ran away from home and hid at her teacher's house at Embakwe Primary.

She told her teacher that Nyoni was continuously having sex with her," said the source.

The case of a chef who killed and cooked the body of his wife was gripping Australia, with fresh revelations on Tuesday that she was a transgender prostitute supporting her family in Indonesia.

The case began on Saturday when police were called to an apartment block in Brisbane by neighbours complaining of a bad smell coming from a ground floor apartment.

When police knocked on the door it was opened by Marcus Peter Volke, 28, who immediately turned and ran, escaping over a balcony, reports said.

Police found the dismembered body of Mayang Prasetyo on the kitchen floor with pots on the stove cooking body parts, media reports said.

Authorities have not yet commented on those reports.

Police later found Volke's body in a garbage skip, apparently after committing suicide with a knife.

More details of the shocking case emerged over the next few days.

The Brisbane Courier-Mail reported on Tuesday that Volke had married Prasetyo last year after they met working on a cruise ship. The paper said the victim was a "high-end'" prostitute advertising her services online as a "top high-class Asian shemale."

The newspaper said Prasetyo's mother in Lampung, Indonesia, described the victim, a son she called Febri, as the family's breadwinner who sent money home regularly for herself and her two daughters, aged 18 and 15.

"He put the sisters through school," Nining Sukarni said.

Prasetyo was described as friendly and popular among neighbours and tributes have flooded in for her on social media where she had posted glamorous photos of herself.

Volke frequently spoke out against violence towards women on his Facebook site.

Police were investigating Volke's background but had reportedly found no record of mental illness or sign of illegal drug usage. sapa

TWO Victoria Falls teenagers allegedly pummelled a 38-year-old man after he reportedly found them while coming from having bedding his wife.

Nelson Moyo (18) and Clifford Makamba (17) of Sizinda village pleaded guilty to assault when they appeared before Victoria Falls resident magistrate Sharon Rosemani yesterday.

According to prosecutors, on October 3 at around 7pm, Evans Ngwenya (38) received a call from his wife Sheila Ngwenya (33) who said she needed money for food.

He immediately left Victoria Falls for Sizinda where his family stayed, but as he dropped off at the bus stop at 9pm, he saw Moyo and Makamba with his wife.

When he inquired from the teenagers what they were doing with his wife, Moyo responded by saying she was his lover as well. A fight ensued and the two hit Ngwenya with an empty beer bottle and fists.

Ngwenya managed to escape and made a report at Matetsi Police Station. He sustained lacerations on his head, cheek, mouth and forehead, which needed stiches.

Moyo told the magistrate: "We were fighting over the issue of his wife as she is also mine. My friend helped me to beat him because he was overpowering me."

Ngwenya said he attacked the two because he found them in a compromising position with his wife. Rosemani remanded the two out of custody to October 30.

Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries leader Prophet Walter Magaya yesterday donated US$18,000 to ailing actress Pretty Xaba for her medication in India.

The former Studio 263 actress who played as Muvengwa's wife was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer and she has been making frantic efforts  to raise the money.

After learning about Pretty's condition, Prophet Magaya decided to come to her rescue amid reports that the recent fundraising show at Book Cafe did not raise enough funds for her medication.

The donation was received by her aunt, Ruth Xaba at PHD base in Waterfalls and she thanked the man of God for his gesture.

"I strongly believe that Pretty has received her healing after she put us under pressure to take her back to Prophet Magaya from Mutare where she was feeling lonely. I have witnessed many people receiving their healing in PHD and Pretty decided to visit doctors for her healing and we want to take her to India for treatment. Many have been promising to help but Prophet Magaya's donation comes at a time when we want to take Pretty to a local doctor tomorrow (today) and if the doctor recommends that she travels to India we will leave on Wednesday.

"We had managed to raise US$2,400 and with this donation I want to believe it will cover for our air tickets, accommodation and food in India. Her health is deteriorating that we see it fit to consult a local doctor first before leaving to India," she said.

Prophet Magaya said he believes medical doctors are also in God's ministry and they do it out of love.

"As PHD we are not against medical treatment, that is why I ask some of the people to bring their medical records when coming for prayers (seeking miracles). As for Pretty, she is my daughter in PHD and I feel blessed to help her get medical treatment since she is the one who decided to consult doctors. It is not that I failed to pray for her but her faith is in doctors and I cannot compromise to that since all the healing are through faith in God," said Prophet Magaya who was over the weekend described by Beverly 'Bev' Sibanda as "a true man of God".

Zimbabwe puts 718 people under Ebola surveillance, Minister of Health confirms

A total of 718 people have been put under medical surveillance for 21 days in Zimbabwe.

This was revealed yesterday by the Ministry of Health and Child Care Dr David Parirenyatwa after touring the Harare International Airport Port Health on Ebola preparedness.

A total of 434 came from Nigeria, 37 from Liberia, 46 from Sierra Leone, 124 from DRC, 4 from Guinea and 6 from Senegal.

However, some of these people have since left the country and the figures do not represent the people currently in the country or under medical surveillance in Zimbabwe in real time.

"They have been put under medical surveillance and have not exhibited any Ebola symptoms. Let me reiterate that these are just travellers from the affected countries. They are not Ebola cases or suspects at all as reported in some sections of the media," Minister Parirenyatwa said.

An Ebola preparedness plan has been drafted with the help of partners here present. This plan focuses on the country's needs in the fight against Ebola in Zimbabwe. The plan covers what is needed for preparedness, equipment, personal protective equipment and personnel.

"Screening of travellers is done as they arrive into the country by checking their passports to see if they have travelled from the affected countries. Their temperatures are simultaneously checked by the infrared scanners. All this is done to minimize the risk of any Ebola case coming into Zimbabwe. Those that are found to have been to Ebola affected countries are put under medical surveillance for 21 days," Minister Parirenyatwa said.

Man simply kills himself after wife saved his phone number as 'imbwa yemunhu' A 27 year old man simply killed himself after discovering that his beloved wife had saved his phone number in her phone book as 'Imbwa yemunhu', an insult term meaning a dog.

Reached for a comment, Police confirmed that the incident  indeed happened last week and shocked residents are still coming to grips with the development.

The man, Moses Guri,  from Village 42 in Inyati, lost his marbles following an altercation with his wife, Stembile Kanye, who is aged 25. Curiosity killed the cat as they say, Moses dialled his number on his wife's phone, only for it to return the entry 'Imbwa yemunhu',  blind with rage he confronted her and the two engaged in a nasty exchange of un-pleasantries and their aunt had to intervene to diffuse the explosive situation.

According to reports, the wife,Kanye, later ingested a concoction of several tablets but  she threw up and is still alive.

Unbeknownst to her Moses was also considering terminating himself and  after the altercation he reportedly went to the garage where he devoured an unknown pesticide. When he was finished he told his wife what he had done, he was then taken to the clinic but the poison had already taken its toll and he passed on his way.

Meanwhile, Manicaland police spokesperson, Inspector Enock Chishiri has expressed dismay over the rise of such cases in Zimbabwe and urged people to to seek professional counselling and not to unnecessarily take their lives over petty issues.

2 Form 4 students caught red-handed having sex in class, groaning in pleasure TWO Form Four pupils at Sobukhazi High School in Bulawayo have been suspended from classes for two weeks after they were caught having sex in a classroom in broad daylight.

A source at the school said the incident occurred last Wednesday afternoon and the two, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were interrupted by a curious junior pupil who heard moaning sounds and rushed to alert school officials.

"It was in the afternoon at around lunch hour and a Form Two pupil heard some groaning sounds coming from a classroom. He peeped through the window and saw them in the act before rushing to inform a teacher," said the source.

"The two were doing their business in the classrooms near the sports fields. It seems as if it was not the first time something like this was happening as other pupils were going about their business as if nothing was amiss."

The following day, the school's headmistress Thatho Sikosana had a meeting with the pupils' parents before a decision to have them suspended for two weeks was made.

Our news crew spoke to several pupils and members of staff at the school yesterday who confirmed the incident.
However, Sikosana, the school head, declined to comment.

"Why do you people only report on the bad things that happen at the school? Why don't you also report on developmental issues? Which teacher told you about it anyway?" said Sikosana.

Bulawayo Provincial Education Director Dan Moyo said he could not comment on the issue as he was in Harare.

The incident comes two weeks after a Form Three pupil at the same school gave birth to a baby boy in a school toilet and tried to hide it. The pupil carried the pregnancy to full term without authorities being aware of it.

On the fateful day, she asked to be excused so that she could visit the toilet after telling the teacher she was having stomach cramps. Teachers later heard the baby crying behind the toilets.

Pupils who suspected she was the mother alerted school authorities. She finally admitted she was the mother after being interrogated.

The girl and her baby were rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital and she reportedly told her relatives the child's father was in Nkayi.

Recently, 16 St Columbus pupils were excluded from school after they smuggled whisky into the school's premises.

THE love for sex has landed a Victoria Falls man in trouble after he was arrested for allegedly thumping his wife for refusing to be intimate with him.

Misheck Ncube, 32, who now faces physical abuse charges, is married to Talent Mpofu, 23 and reside in Chinotimba Township.

It is said on Sunday the two were drinking beer at Old Bar when Ncube decided to go home and have some steamy sex with his wife since his 'anaconda' had become 'extremely charges and very hard, supposedly after being aroused by the dancers!

However, the State alleges that Mpofu had other ideas on her mind as she still wanted to down some more beer.

She refused to go with him after he had indicated that they should go home to have sex.

"At 6pm the accused and complainant were at Old Bar when he asked her to go home so they could have sex and she refused," said prosecutor Listen Nare.

It is alleged that Ncube then dragged his wife from the bar but still she refused, resulting in him pummelling her with some fists.

The woman was taken to hospital with a swollen face.
Mpofu told police investigators that she did not want to go home because she was watching a traditional dance group that was performing at the bar.

Magistrate Sharon Rosemani remanded Ncube in custody for the start of trial.

COPS that were reportedly deployed by the State to solicit for evidence that can implicate the Sunday Mail Editor Edmund Kudzayi and his brother Philip on the alleged terrorism case from Google and Facebook in the United States of America have returned, according to a report by the Herald today.

The cops, Assistant Commissioner Crispen Makedenge and two of his colleagues returned on Sunday around 9:30pm, according to a report by the same publication.

Reports say the officers met Facebook and Google officials to aid the State case although details of the meeting could not be established by late yesterday.

The officers left the country on September 20 for the US to carry out further investigations on the terrorism case.

According to the sources, Asst Comm Makedenge and one of the senior officers left the country aboard a South African Airways jet to OR Tambo International Airport before connecting to Dakar in Senegal en route to the United States.

The other officer left the country in an Emirates Airline for the US via Dubai.

On Monday, a second bid for freedom by Edmund and Phillip, hit snag after a Harare magistrate ruled that they should remain on remand pending trial

Magistrate Milton Serima dismissed the pair's application for refusal of further remand and remanded them to November 14 this year.

Through their lawyer Admire Rubaya of Rubaya Chatambudza Legal Practitioners, Edmund and Phillip made an application for refusal of further remand arguing they had been on remand for a long time without standing trial.

In their application, Edmund and Phillip, who are facing charges of subversion and undermining the authority of the President through the Baba Jukwa Facebook account, accused the State of taking them for a ride.

They challenged the State to produce proof showing that indeed Assistant Comm Makedenge left the country for the United States but the court argued that the pair's application was misplaced.

First Lady Grace Mugabe has threatened to spill blood in defence of her extensive Mazowe farm which she says she "personally" grabbed at the height of the land reform programme.

Mugabe told hundreds of ruling party supporters at the Zanu PF Gweru Convention Centre on Monday that she personally seized the farm from its owners to show people that the land reform exercise was not child's play.

"Nobody will remove me from the farm which I took. Blood will be spilt if anyone attempts to remove me from that farm . . . I took that farm personally because even after I told ministers and government officials that I wanted a farm, they did not allocate me land and instead told me they thought I was joking," she said.

The First Family also owns Iron Mask Estate previously owned by farmers John and Eva Matthews.

"I asked Baba (President Robert Mugabe): 'What will people think about this land reform if they see us not leading from the front?' I told him if you want to eat a dog, eat a very big dog which has a strong odour so that when people pass through they acknowledge that indeed a dog was eaten," she said.

Mugabe also urged women to hold on to land even if they do not use it.

"Women, we need land, so let us take it. Even if we don't farm on the land, that is not a problem as long as you have it and it's yours. I have it and I am a good farmer who did not even benefit from the farm mechanisation programme, I would buy my implements one by one from my farming proceeds," she said.

Fight against HIV: Government to pay all VIRGINS $20 every month

Teenage Swazi girls will be paid R200 (about $20) a month by King Mswati's government if they abstain from sex.

World Bank money will finance the programme that is intended to reduce HIV transmission in an impoverished country with the world's highest HIV prevalence rate.

"The government will pay girls the allowances so they will have money to purchase necessities and can turn down money offered to them for sex," said Thabsile Dlamini, a health care worker in Manzini.

The deputy prime minister's office will administer the payouts.

A pilot programme will be conducted to test the effectiveness of weaning teen girls from older "sugar daddies" who offer money in exchange for sexual favours.

Details have to be worked out such as how the girls will be monitored to ensure they are not having sex.

A source with the royal family denied that the financial payouts to girls to avoid sex were designed to ensure an HIV-free population of Swazi virgins who could be King Mswati's future wives.

The polygamous king has 15 wives and selects teenage girls as his new brides, often at the annual Reed Dance at which up to 70 000 girls dance semi-naked before the royal viewing box.

Studies have found that among the general Swazi population girls and young women aged 18 to 24 are most at risk of becoming infected with HIV. Poverty and lack of female empowerment in the traditional society are cited as reasons for girls' vulnerability to the sexually-transmitted diseases.

The National Emergency Response Council on HIV and Aids, a government department tasked with co-ordinating Swaziland's Aids response, has issued statements in the local media citing the need for initiatives to discourage girls from having sex because of economic need.

Seventy percent of Swazis live in absolute poverty. Pubescent Swazi girls often turn to benefactors to purchase basic items like sanitary pads.

The National Emergency Response Council on HIV and Aids said World Bank money had been used to adjust the behaviour of teenage girls in other African countries, although those programmes focused on the girls' school attendance.

One teenager in Manzini, Zodwa Fakudze, 16, said R200 was not sufficient to discourage girls from accepting gifts from older men to have sex.

"Today's girls need things, like airtime for our cellphones. R200 is not enough. That is how much government gives my gogo (grandmother) each month and she will never get Aids because no one over (the age of) 40 has to have sex," she said.

Another girl, Thandi Tfwala, 17, a Manzini high school pupil, noted, "A girl could get R200 for just one sex act. Government must pay more."

When told the allowance was not intended to put a price on sexual activity but to help make girls independent of the need to take gifts and thus be better able to safeguard their health, she said: "You don't know Swazi girls. If they don't get more money they will keep on doing what they do now, even the Christian girls. Our king will have to go to Cape Town for his brides." - iol

President Mugabe is a man of God who walks in righteous path: says Grace

First Lady Grace Mugabe has sensationally claimed that her husband is a priest who is God’s special gift to Zimbabwe.

A revved up Grace, who has embarked on a whirlwind tour of the country’s 10 provinces to drum up support for her controversial entry into Zanu PF politics, told dozens of pastors at her Mazowe Children’s Home yesterday that she is married to a "chosen man of God."

"You are amazed by the strength of the president, but I want to tell you that I am one of the wives of a pastor," she said to "hallelujahs" and "praise God" choruses from clergymen.

Grace said her husband, who has been compared to the "biblical Moses" by his fawning praise singers, was an ardent believer in God.

"The president knows that he walks in the righteous path that pleases God," she said. "He stands by the truth and I would like God to help me stand in righteousness so that when I stand before God, I will not be afraid because I will be saying the truth."

Although Mugabe has presided over the country for the past 34 years and is blamed for the country’s past and present economic and human rights problems, Grace believes the 90-year old strongman was  God-sent.

"President Mugabe is the best gift we got from God.  He was raised by a God-fearing mother. The president is a very prayerful person.  He prays all the time for the nation. They (detractors) do not understand him because God makes it difficult to do so. When he stands before people, you can tell it is no longer the human Mugabe who is speaking," she said.

Mugabe, a Catholic who carries a rosary with him, has faced accusations of damaging the economy, rights abuses and electoral fraud by his critics.

He has long been an admirer of the Catholic Church. Born at Kutama, a Catholic mission station in British-ruled Southern Rhodesia, he attended Jesuit schools.

The Jesuits instilled a love of learning in Mugabe, who went on to earn seven degrees during the 14 years he spent in prison for anti-regime activities.

Meanwhile, Grace said she is now planning for the future in order to have a "fallback" position when the political winds change. With her husband at 90 and Zanu PF headed for probably its most important congress since formation in 1963, top Zanu PF officials are locked in a bitter contest to succeed the aging leader.

"The State House is a place where you can forget tomorrow. I could have sat down on my laurels doing my nails and having massages but I cannot do that. I want others to learn from me. I would have looked back but I said God, ‘I live with a visionary leader, impart the wisdom to me.’ He is a well of wisdom and I am blessed to have him," she said.

Pastors, reverends, bishops and their spouses heaped praises on Mugabe.

Among the clergyman present was Anglican church leader Chad Gandiya. They told the first lady about their economic woes and begged the first family for land, housing stands and other freebies.

Grace said that she would pass their pleas to the "president" but also asked a favour from the church.

"I am also going to make a request to all of you that if you are really serious, I am going to ensure that you support us by purchasing (Zanu PF) membership cards," she said.

The church leaders also prayed and declared that whatever Grace wishes should be fulfilled by God.

They also complained about the staggering riches earned by some churchmen.

"You were telling me about how some churches are getting so rich. Do not worry about that kind of wealth because it diminishes so fast. When you see them getting a lot of money, do not lose focus, don’t covet such wealth, it is not coming from God. What is yours is what you sweat for," she said.

Politicians, chiefs and now clergymen have flocked to Grace’s orphanage to lend their support to her. Grace told the pastors to pray for her husband ahead of his party’s potentially game changing congress. She also implored the pastors to pray for her as she bids for political office.

Prophet Magaya bridges the death trap that killed 170 people

Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries founder prophet Walter Magaya has constructed a 40-metre bridge that will benefit people who travel between Waterfalls and Highfield in Harare.

A number of people have drowned while attempting to cross Mukuvisi River using undesignated points.

Prophet Magaya said he constructed the bridge for schoolchildren, members of his church and the community at large.

"Thousands of people used to cross using water and sewer pipes that cross Mukuvisi River. We built it to beat the rainy season where it would be slippery and the crossing points people were using claimed the lives of 170 people since 1978 after they fell into the water. Four members of our church have relatives who perished when they fell into the river. This is part of the programmes we do for people in the society," said prophet Magaya.

Prophet Magaya said construction of the bridge briefly created employment for some youths.

"We did it to create employment for people who had the knowledge but were failing to secure job opportunities. We roped in 15 welders and 30 bricklayers and their assistants who did the job to perfection. I did it without approval from city authorities but the local leadership told us they asked several times for such infrastructure to be built but with failure. It is assisting church members and school children who walk to schools like Lord Malvern in Waterfalls on a daily basis," said prophet Magaya.

In December 2013, Prophet Magaya also built a house in Chitungwiza for a man he had spiritually delivered from a long history of mental illness.

White woman gets pregnant after watching porn, gives birth to a black baby A white American couple had a black baby, and the woman claimed she has fallen pregnant after watching a 3D p*rnographic movie.

The child's father, Erick Johnson who is a soldier, had been away for a year, serving in a military base in Iraq and on his return, the gunman found a black baby at home.

His wife, Jennifer Stewart (38) told him that the baby had been conceived while she had been watching a 3D p*rn movie since she was sex starved.

"I see no reason not to believe her because these 3D films are very lifelike. With the technology of today, everything is possible," said the soldier who spent a year away from his p*rn loving wife.

The man has since registered the baby as his own child.

Jennifer said she had gone to a P*rn Cinema in New York with her female friends when she fell pregnant. She  had only gone this time to see how a p*rn movie looks like with 3D effects. Interestingly, she further claimed that the child looked exactly like the black male lead in the film.

"A month after watching the film I found I was pregnant. I am going to sue the cinema and the producers. Luckily my husband believes me. It could have wrecked my marriage, but he knows I am faithful to him," she claimed.
